OVERVIEW

What is applygigs

ApplyGigs is an AI resume platform helping job seekers pass ATS systems and land jobs faster. The problem is 75% of resumes get rejected before a human ever sees them, and most candidates don't even know why they're failing.

ApplyGigs solves this by AI-tailoring your resume to each job description, providing a curated job board with matching opportunities, and generating cover letters on the fly. The result is that job seekers who were consistently getting rejected now get interviews and land jobs.

THE PROBLEM

Why Job Seekers Were Failing

Job seekers face three consistent problems that prevent them from landing jobs.

First, ATS rejection. Most candidates don't know that 75% of resumes get filtered out by automated systems before a hiring manager ever sees them. They send the same resume everywhere, wonder why they're not getting callbacks, and blame themselves for not being qualified.

Second, the volume problem. Applying to jobs manually is exhausting. You rewrite your resume, spend 20 minutes on a cover letter, tailor your experience then hear nothing back. Most job seekers apply to 50+ jobs and never get feedback on why they were rejected.

Third, interview anxiety. When they finally get an interview, they're unprepared. No practice, no feedback, no copilot to help them think through answers. They walk in stressed and underperform.

The result: Qualified candidates never get callbacks because their resumes never make it past the first filter.

THE SOLUTION

How ApplyGigs Attacked It

ApplyGigs automates the painful parts of job searching.
AI Resume Tailoring rewrites your resume to match each job description, so it passes ATS systems.
Resume Templates provide proven formats that work.
AI Assistant helps you improve content, fix grammar, and strengthen your resume. Curated Job Board shows only relevant opportunities.
AI Cover Letter Generation creates them in seconds instead of 20 minutes each.

The result: Job seekers go from rejection to callbacks. Applications take minutes instead of hours. You're no longer guessing, you have a copilot in your corner.

THE COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE

Why ApplyGigs Stands Out

The job search space is crowded with players. LinkedIn, Indeed, ResumeBuilders, they all focus on one part of the problem. Resume builders give you templates but don't help you tailor. Job boards show you opportunities but don't help your resume stand out. Nobody connects them.

ApplyGigs combines AI resume tailoring, curated job matching, cover letter generation, and interview prep into one platform. You're not jumping between tools. Your resume automatically adapts to each job. Competitors optimise for template quality or job volume. ApplyGigs optimises for callbacks.
The gap: Job seekers have fragmented tools but no integrated solution. ApplyGigs fills it.

INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE

Mapping the User Journey

The core challenge was making job application frictionless. From discovery (finding jobs on the board) to application (tailoring resume + writing cover letter) to tracking (seeing application status). Each step needed to be intentional, fast, and reduce cognitive load.

Wireframes established the structure: Job board shows opportunities. Click a job, your resume auto-tailors with Ai . Cover letter generates. You review and apply with your new resume. Everything happens in minutes, not hours.

PRODUCT UI

Creating an Application

Once we had the structure, we designed the interface. Clean, minimal, focused. The "Create Application" flow is simple: paste the job description, select your resume, confirm details. Our AI matches your resume to the job description and generates a version that passes ATS. Review the tailored resume and cover letter, then apply. No unnecessary steps.

PRODUCT UI

Resume display and Editor

Users needed to see what their tailored resume looks like and edit if needed. The resume display shows the AI-tailored version in real-time. The editor lets you tweak content, strengthen bullets, and refine experience before applying.

Once you're happy with your edits, you can save this as your base resume so next time you apply to a different job, you don't have to re-upload or select another resume.

PRODUCT UI

AI assistant for Cover letter, Summary, Work Experience & Skills

The AI doesn't just tailor your resume once and stop. It helps you continuously improve every part of it.

Cover Letter Tone: Generate a cover letter automatically. Not happy with the tone? Change it from professional to conversational to bold using Ai . You're adjusting the voice, not rewriting from scratch.

Professional Summary: AI rewrites your professional summary to match the job description. Make it stronger, more relevant, more compelling.

Skills Section: AI suggests missing skills based on the job. Add them, remove them, reorder them. Every suggestion is contextual to the role you're applying for.

Work Experience: Struggling to explain what you did? AI rewrites your bullets to be more impactful, using action verbs and quantified results.

You manage all versions in one place and reuse tailored content across applications.

PRODUCT UI

Resume template section

Applygigs provides resume templates optimised for different roles, Software Engineer, Product Manager, Data Analyst, Writer, and more. Each template is designed to pass ATS systems and already proven in that field. Select your job type, fill in your experience, and the AI tailors it to each application.

PRODUCT UI

Why Credits system instead of subscription type of payment

UJob seekers are hesitant to commit to a subscription they might not use. Most apply to 5-10 jobs per month, not hundreds. A $16/month subscription feels risky if you're only applying occasionally.
Credits solve this. Free users get 3 credits on signup enough to try the platform without paying. Pay-As-You-Go lets you buy exactly what you need without commitment. If you apply to 2 jobs this month, spend $2. If you apply to 20 jobs next month, spend $20. No wasted money on unused subscription time.
Monthly subscription is still there for power users who apply constantly. But the credit model removes friction for the majority. You only pay for what you actually use.

PRODUCT UI

Job board as a growth loop

The job board isn't just a feature, it's a growth engine. Most job search platforms show you millions of jobs and force you to apply manually. Applygigs does the opposite.

We curate 10K+ niche jobs across roles, industries, and experience levels. Each job is vetted and relevant. Browsing the job board is completely free. You can explore, discover, save jobs without spending anything. But when you find a job you want to apply to, that's where credits come in. The platform generates a tailored resume and cover letter for that application. You use 2 credits, apply, and move on.

Because browsing is free but applying costs credits, users naturally discover more opportunities. They find jobs they wouldn't have found elsewhere. The friction is only at the moment of action when you decide to apply. This drives usage and makes the business model sustainable.

PRODUCT UI

Landing pages & Marketing assets

The landing page communicates the value prop clearly and convinces job seekers to sign up. Social guides, job search tips, resume guides help users succeed after signup. These assets reduce friction and answer common questions without documentation.

We used Claude to rapidly iterate on landing page copy before designing in Figma. Instead of guessing what messaging would work, We tested different angles, tones, and CTAs in plain text. Claude helped refine headlines, subheadings, and value propositions. Once the copy was locked, I brought it to Figma for design. This workflow saved time and ensured copy and design worked together, not separately.
We also created graphic designs and short-form videos for social media, TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. Each video shows a quick resume hack, job search tip, or feature walkthrough.

PRODUCT UI

Applygigs Design system and Components

A consistent design system across the platform builds trust. Resume templates follow the same visual language. Buttons, inputs, modals, and cards maintain the same patterns. Users instantly understand how to interact with the product because everything looks and works the same way.

The design system includes typography, color palette, spacing, iconography, and component patterns. Every screen uses these foundations. This consistency also makes design and development faster, we're not reinventing the wheel for every new feature. Designers build with existing components. Developers implement predictable patterns. The result is a polished product that feels intentional, not cobbled together.

PRODUCT UI

Product illustrations

Product illustrations explain features visually. Instead of long explanations, users see what happens step-by-step. An illustration shows how resume tailoring works you paste a job description, AI analyses it, generates a new resume.

Another shows why 75% of resumes get rejected by ATS systems before humans ever see them. These illustrations reduce cognitive load. New users understand the platform faster. Feature adoption increases because illustrations make abstract concepts concrete. Users don't have to read documentation or watch tutorials. They see a visual and immediately get it.

PRODUCT GROWTH

Programmatic SEO work and Resume guides

ApplyGigs didn't have a paid ads budget. Instead, we built 600+ resume guides using programmatic SEO.
The workflow was: Research keywords using Ahrefs to identify high-volume job titles ("Software Engineer Resume," "Product Manager Resume," etc.). Use Claude to generate metadata structure info and SEO templates for consistency across all 600+ guides. Create an Excel sheet template with sections for keywords, structure, CTAs content developers fill it in. The template ensures every guide answers the same questions: how to format, what keywords matter, what to highlight.
Google ranks them because they're genuinely helpful and structured consistently.

Each guide links to ApplyGigs with a CTA. Job seekers searching for resume help find the guides, learn what works, then sign up.
Result: 600+ ranked pages driving 1.86M+ organic views. Zero paid ads. Unlike social media channels that require constant posting, these SEO pages rank once and keep driving traffic. This becomes our long-term growth driver ; sustainable, scalable so we don't depend on social media momentum to survive on the long run

PRODUCT GROWTH

Reddit and Tiktok content strategy for Applygigs

Social media was our second growth channel. On TikTok, we posted short-form videos with faceless content quick resume hacks, job search tips, before/afters of tailored resumes. No face, no complex production. Just helpful, shareable content. Each video was under 60 seconds. Some went viral organically. Result: 1.5M+ TikTok views.

On Reddit, we took a different approach. Instead of spammy self-promotion, we joined communities where job seekers hang out: r/jobsearchhacks, r/resume,
r/jobhunting. We shared genuinely helpful content: resume templates, job search strategies, common ATS mistakes. We answered questions. We engaged authentically. When people asked "how do I pass ATS?", we shared our guides and tools.
Reddit users appreciate authenticity. They reject obvious marketing. So we didn't sell. We helped. Result: 2M+ Reddit views, 3.3K+ upvotes, thousands of sign-ups from qualified job seekers who actually needed the product.

IMPACT

Metrics and Impact of work

ApplyGigs launched with zero paid advertising. Within months, we reached
2K+ users, $950 MRR, and proved a sustainable business model.
Growth came from three channels: 600+ SEO-ranked resume guides driving 1.86M+ organic views. TikTok short-form videos reaching 1.5M+ views. Reddit authentic engagement generating 2M+ views and 3.3K+ upvotes across job search communities.

KEY LEARNINGS

  1. Friction kills growth. Job seekers were stuck because applying took hours. Remove friction (auto-tailoring, cover letters in seconds, free job browsing), and usage explodes.

  2. Authenticity works. Reddit rejected obvious marketing but embraced genuine help. We didn't sell, we solved problems. Users rewarded us with signups and word-of-mouth.

  3. Sustainable channels matter. TikTok drives fast traction but requires constant posting. SEO pages rank once and keep working. Building both creates a resilient growth engine that doesn't depend on any single channel.

  4. Credits over subscriptions. Job seekers hate committing to subscriptions they might not use. Pay-As-You-Go removes risk and drives adoption faster than traditional pricing.

THE OUTCOME:
A bootstrapped product reached profitability without venture capital. Thousands of job seekers got hired. The platform proved that AI + smart UX + authentic growth can build real businesses.
